Moved, but not Upstairs

Today Daddy got to move to the "less critical" side of CTICU. This is in lieu of moving to a private room for now, which is kind of a bummer. On the upside, he now has a window (after not seeing daylight for 3 weeks), a sliding glass door instead of just a curtain, and the best part-- he's at the end of the hallway, so it's much quieter and there is not even a bed across the hallway.

The reason he has not yet graduated from ICU is because of the infection risk from his non-permanent pacemaker. His groin bleeding from yesterday has not been a problem again.

Julie & Jaron got their first training session on the VAD, prompted by Jaron heading home. We'll do hands on stuff after dinner and then will be tested tomorrow.

Daddy is sitting in the chair. He worked with physical therapy this morning on moving his arms & legs but was not able to stand up today.

He is off of oxygen now and keeping saturation at 99% completely on his own. His only IVs are for heparin (blood thinner) and milrinone (anti-arrhythmia). He's even been off of tylenol for a couple of days.

Still not allowed water or ice chips. Julie noticed that he was coughing quite a bit and got him swabbed by the nurse. We're anticipating a nurse-administered "pudding test" to see how he does with swallowing here pretty soon. Daddy requested vanilla.

  1. It's really good to hear that Daddy got moved to the other side of ICU. I'm glad that he'll have a window now too!
