Let's go Rangers!

Here are some updated from the last few days...

May 30th: Started the Heparin drip. Walked with PT. Brushed teeth. Slept a lot and was alert a lot. I hung up strings of blue lights in Daddy's room tonight. They look very pretty and remind him of being home.

July 1st: Started Heparin yesterday (short term blood thinner). Will start Coumidin tomorrow (long term blood thinner). CT scan today. No results yet. Next CT will be after 3-4 days on Coumidin. Will watch closely for NO NEW BLEEDING. He saw OT & PT today. Walked twice with a standard walker. Will need rehab after discharge. Working on coordinating facility for that because they must be VAD trained...but the VA has to approve it. MAP is looking good. Still has 7 staples & 2 stitches in his head and missing 1/3 of his hair. We might need Jason to shave the rest of his hair.

July 2nd: Daddy just went for a walk! He did really well. He's getting stronger & moving faster. This is a huge relief since he could barely take steps a few days ago. We're still working on figuring out where he can do rehab...they have to be VAD trained & the VA has to agree to pay.

We (Daddy, Jenny, Julie and Jaron) are talking about just having UMMC set up the rehab & transfer to the VA in Richmond. This would resolve A LOT of issues. For example: Emergency transfer to a VAD facility from Clarksburg, VAD care and follow up at a VA hospital, he would be able to start looking into their transplant program. From the beginning everyone at UMMC said that they couldn't be his transplant center. Daddy is now thinking of looking into the transplant process since he's experienced how inconvenient the VAD can be and could continue being (when there's a problem with Daddy, not necessarily the VAD).

Jaron is treating us to a RANGER's Baseball game tonight. He is setting up Daddy's TV so that he can watch the game while we are at the game .3 miles away.

We're having a 4th of July party in Daddy's room tomorrow afternoon. Decorations, BBQ, and party favors!!! Jenny and Abby are set to fly home on Saturday morning :(

  1. Also, the first thing Daddy asked was if his hair looked stupid. Clearly this is the most important issue. Jason offered to shave the rest of it off for him.
