Things looking good

Julie and I headed out around 2330 this evening, and Jenny stayed behind for a little while. Roger was about to begin eating dinner for the first time in a few days...burger and fries no-less (yes, really). The last of the cath had been pulled out of his leg, and he was sitting up, talking and feeling better. Overall, he's stabilized with only Oxygen in his nose and Heparin in his IV, however he's still quite fatigued.

They're continuing to monitor him in the ICU, but they're also hoping to move him to a regular hospital room (supposedly a single bed, no roommate room) in about the next day. That should be a bit quieter and more private than the current arrangement. At the same time, the cardiac team will continue to run him through all the pre-op assessments.

We're also continuing to discuss the implications of the options in front of us, but frankly there's not a lot. I at least continue to feel grateful that modern technology is presenting us with as many good options as we are though. This is a very experienced hospital with a very good staff at these matters. The combination of this modern technology and the hospital staff we have at our disposal is truly remarkable.

In separate phone calls, we were able to get him on the line briefly with with Jason S. and Rick/Rich. It really meant a lot to him knowing that Rick and fam were thinking about him. Chuck's been trying to reach us, but connectivity from the international cruise liner seems to be less than stellar...keep trying Chuck! All thoughts and prayers from everyone certainly helps...keep 'em coming!
