Another Quiet Day, Anticipating Answers

Today was another quiet day. Daddy is still feeling weak and nods off periodically, but did stand up in between a couple of things. Jaron went for a run now that he has those necessaries.

Today Daddy got a cardiac MRI late in the day, so we're awaiting those results with great anticipation. The report should be done tomorrow.

I've gotta say / not gonna lie, the staff in the CICU is very responsive, respectful, and professional. Those who know our dad know that he's always had a cough. This morning he was coughing quite a bit and saying he really shouldn't be, so Julie mentioned it to the nurse. Within 30 min, we had two doctors and a nurse come in. They did see a spot in his lung in the x-ray and had found bacteria in his blood, so they gave him some antibiotics for pneumonia.

He mentioned home a couple of times today. I guess we all would like to go home really. This is also only day 3 of him knowing what shape he is in, but he seems to be "owning it" and has mentioned that he had a heart attack when responding to a couple of questions from medical staff. We also checked his voicemails and returned one urgent business call tonight and let that customer know what was going on. We have a couple more courtesy calls to make in the morning. Julie has heard nothing but sincere concern and support from the two business contacts she has talked to.

We asked about moving him to a regular room and they said the request was in, there was nothing that would keep him in the CICU, but that it can take days to line up a room. When he gets one, he's got clothes, toiletries, books, and more pictures from home. Today Julie brought in a book, one of his decks of cards, and his favorite dice in his Leinenkugel's cup. The dice did perk him up and he played a couple of times.

So...awaiting more information from the MRI tomorrow.

  1. See this is why I think Jason should be in the medical field! When Jason got home from the "Jason Express", he mentioned a potential concern about the pneumonia from the coughing. Good catch. Keep getting better, Roger. Take the kiddos advice and allow them to help you out!

It's good to see that the business contacts are understanding... an indicator that work can wait :)
