Rumor has it that Daddy is on track for discharge on Wednesday! We are still trying to iron out some details, like whether they want him to stay in the local area for a week after that. Or maybe that requirement has already been taken care of because he's over 40 days post-op. Talked to a bunch of parties regarding future healthcare questions today, filled out and mailed a bunch of paperwork, wrote some fax coversheets for some more stuff to go out on Monday. Aye yai yai.
It sounds like his PCP (normal?) stuff, monthly VAD checks, and transplant workup can all be done in the DC area. There are VA clinics in Greenbelt (5 mi from Casa Ard) and Ft Meade (30 min from Casa Ard). The nearest VA hospital is in DC proper. So I'm not sure which level of medical facility he needs to be plugged in with. His transplant would be done at Richmond and, quote, "He is not responsible for transportation. They'll fly him in or helo him in if they need to." Allz I've got to say is...wow.
Today Daddy walked all the way from the PT gym back to his room. They followed him with the wheelchair. It was quite a distance and he was not sure if he would make it. But he did! He did the 3 sets of 4 stairs again and walked around obstacles and bent down to pick things up. So! He's definitely getting there.
There is a big surprise in store for him tomorrow....a good one. Heeheehee.
