Apparently there are 26 tests one must pass before they can be considered a candidate for transplant. I have not found a list online, but it includes both physical and psychological screening.
If he does it at the VA in Richmond, then they will helo him in if they have to. So, that takes care of transportation. UMMC also has a helicopter transport, and a VA cardiologist said that medicare/aid would cover that.
We're still awaiting a call from UMMC after they review Daddy's record to see if they can take him. If that doesn't work, we'll try INOVA Fairfax next. If that doesn't work either, then we may as well go to Richmond.
Maybe we should all just move to Pittsburgh......and go back to UPMC.
